What is a dial indicator?

The dial indicator is a length measuring instrument that converts the general linear displacement (linear motion) into the rotary motion of the pointer through a gear or a lever, and then reads on the dial. The dial indicator is a widely used indicator measuring tool in precision measurement. It is a comparative measuring tool, which can only measure relative values, not absolute values. Mainly used to check the shape and position error of the workpiece. (Such as roundness, flatness, perpendicularity, circle runout, etc.), it is also often used for precision alignment of workpieces.

According to the scale value of the dial indicator, there are several kinds of 0.01mm, 0.005mm, 0.002mm and 0.001mm. The number of graduations is 0.01mm, so this kind of dial indicator is called a dial indicator, and the others are called a dial indicator. According to the transmission principle of the dial indicator, it can be divided into gear chamber transmission, lever gear transmission and lever screw transmission.
